If you’re like me, you like finding new places to publish. I recently stumbled upon an online literary journal that I think deserves a good mention.
r.kv.r.y. is a quarterly journal that publishes poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, and essays. Published by 90in90 Press, I like the overall concept. As the acronym suggests, the journal is all about recovery and seeks submissions that deal with that subject on some level as defined by the journal’s submission guidelines.
The journal seems to like receiving submissions that are a bit experimental though their guidelines say they do accept traditional poems. I was particularly struck by its description of literary essays that the journal seeks:
We encourage our academic contributors to free themselves
from the constraints imposed by academic journals, letting their knowledge, wisdom, and experience rock and roll on these pages.
In other words, be academic, but don’t constrain yourself by academics. The latest issue contains an essay by Richard Kostelanetz. Found poems are welcome, the guidelines say. r.kv.r.y. also has a blog.
Thanks for the mention! Our summer ‘08 issue is up and running. We get better every quarter and invite your readers to submit. http://www.ninetymeetingsinninetydays.com
