I was going to write about something else tonight, but I got tagged by Deborah at 32 Poems to write a six-word memoir. OK, sure, why not?
The game is an interesting twist on a challenge Earnest Hemingway was once offered. He bet $10 that he could sum up his life story in six words. He wrote: For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.
Evidently, this was discovered by Bookbabie who originated the current meme.
Here are the rules:
So, my six-word memoir. About that. Hmmm ….
After giving this some careful thought - remember, I’m summing up my life in six words (not, as is usual with a memoir, giving an account of a specific time period within my life). So with that in mind, my six-word memoir:
Think,
pave a path,
die.
Why use more words than necessary?
My links: Blogging Poet, Poet Hound, Janet Leigh, Jim Murdoch, Timothy Green.
Thanks for playing, you’re the first person who cut it back to five words, most people had a tough time with six:)
Someone asked my wife to do one of these and she asked me off the cuff for mine. The answer was obvious:
Failed. Failed again. Failed better. Died.
Mind you she asked me for an obituary but it’ll do.
And BTW don’t fret if I don’t pass comment every day. I read your blog every day but I don’t always have something witty, interesting, relevant or even articulate to say. And the rest of the time I’m just too damn tired.
Welcome back Jim. I finally subscribed to your blog. Every time I’d visit I’d start reading and intend to subscribe, but then I’d get caught up in the reading and click a link and before I know it I’m off somewhere else and forget about subscribing. I finally made a point to subscribe. You’re writing good stuff.
